Darryl Watanabe received the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii (RCUH) Employee of the Year award at a ceremony in February. This award is in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility, which the IfA manages. Watanabe worked initially as an electronics technician at Manoa, helping to build instruments. After moving to Hilo, Watanabe gradually assumed more responsibilities as an instrumentation technician. His work has always been of very high quality, and he can always be counted on to finish a task on time. Additionally, he is generous in helping with outreach and making sure IRTF student assistants learn as much as possible.
