AstroDay April 24

AstroDay 2004 at the Prince Kuhio Plaza in
Hilo will have many exhibits about space and
technology for the entire family. Above, the
Gemini telescope display with Scott Fisher and
Peter Michaud at an earlier AstroDay.
The award-winning Third Annual AstroDay Fair
will return to the Prince Kuhio Plaza, Hilo,
on Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
With the support of the Institute for Astronomy,
several Mauna Kea observatories, and local businesses,
AstroDay seeks to educate the public about astronomy
and the place where it is conducted on the Big
Island, Mauna Kea. Visitors can explore the
science of, and technology behind, astronomy,
and the cultural and spiritual significance
of the "white mountain" to the Hawaiian
people.
Speakers from the astronomy, education, and Hawaiian communities will give presentations
throughout the day, while exhibits from all the observatories on Mauna Kea will be featured.
A special "Kids Corner" will entertain and educate the youngsters, and student
science fair projects will be on display. See http://www.astroday.net/
AstroDay 2004 will be a wonderful event for the entire family. We hope to see you there.
